Apparently this was a part of massive organized raid that took place all across downtown Chicago last night.  Absolutely nothing about it on the previous three links.  You would have to live in the city or read this message board to have heard about it.

taking into account what was taken it's evident that the person had some idea what they were doing

it will be interesting where these books get offered. i'm sure they've notified the local shops. i'll keep an eye out on CL FB but it's possible this person will find some other way to move the books.

I'll reach out to Kyle who does pressing for a lot of the local guys

Yes, if you go to each site and type "chicago looting" in their search bar the story will show.  I know the rules of the board and I knew I would be pounced on but I posted anyway.  My mistake it won't happen again.

Hard to imagine what Michigan Ave, and the rest of the Loop will look like in a few years, if this keeps up.

No retailer in their right mind, will want to stick around.

no one will stick around. probably won't be able to get insured or the rates will be insane.

Really sucks, local businesses can't absorb widespread lawlessness like this.

Time to leave the big city and big-city ways behind.

When cities let lawlessness prevail, the money leaves.   Urban flight is real.  It is already happening in Chicago.  More Businesses will leave, and may never come back.  Real estate prices will drop, landlords will resort to arson, then arsonists will resort to arson.   Sad.  I used to be from Chicago.  That was a lifetime ago, and you couldn't pay me enough to move back.
