This week we have some absolute gems ... all high grade and many 9.8's. The highlight of this auction just might be Amazing Spider-Man #121. When I had two copies of this book a few years ago, I decided to keep this one and sell the 9.2, because I thought this 8.0 just presents so nice: a BEAUTIFUL copy.

Also! The first Hellboy in color, the first Outsiders (Katana, Halo, and Geo-Force), the first meeting between Batman and The Shadow, the first Punchline, the first Akira, and - did I bury the lede? - the first Miles Morales! A nice selection of other comics and great covers as well. Check them out!

Amazing Spider-Man #121, 8.0. The comic that some say rung in the Bronze Age with the shocking death of Gwen Stacy. (Personally, my vote's still with Green Lantern #76, but this one's good, too.) Current bid: $193

Akira #1, 9.6. The live-action film may finally go forward with Taika Waititi at the helm! That would be fantastic. In fact, maybe I should pull this one? ...Nah! It's all yours. Also, I'm the original owner and this is an unread copy, if you care about that sort of thing. Current bid: $30

Absolute Carnage #1 9.8 Comic Mint cover C. I love this cover, and just found two more raw, which I will send in soon. Current bid: $22

Avengers #101, 9.0. Plot by Harlan Ellison (!) and the -script by Roy Thomas, with Rich Buckler on pencils. Current bid: $3

Amazing Spider-Man #112, 9.0. John Romita art, reprinted in Marvel Tales #91. Current bid: $35

Batman #253, 8.5. First meeting between The Shadow and The Batman. Never read! It was in one of those Super Pacs for forty years. Unfortunately, it was put in there with a slightly bent corner. I always thought "color break" was just a term of art, but when I slowly straightened the tiny bend, I actually heard a very faint but clear "snap" sound. Broke my heart. Current bid: $26

Batman #428, 9.6. Man, I just can't seem to catch a 9.8 on this issue. Oh, well ... my miss is your gain! Current bid: $41

Batman #89, 9.8. The first cameo appearance of Punchline, with the variant cover by Mattina. Current bid: $22

Brave and the Bold #200, 7.5. Missed a small tear on the back cover, but the front looks beautiful. First appearance of Batman and the Outsiders. Current bid: $8

Justice League #1, Comic Mint variant C, 9.8. Cover by Clayton Crain, this is the secret variant, and a homage to BB #28. Current bid: $7

New Gods #10, 9.6 (!) A high-grade example of some fantastic Bronze Age Kirby art. Current bid: $1

Next Men #21, 9.4. First full appearance of Hellboy in comics. Personally, I consider this one the one to collect ... he's in color, on the cover, and it's not just a convention preview thingy. But, reasonable people disagree, so also look out for Dime Press #4, and San Diego Comic Con Comics #2. Current bid: $78

Ultimate Fallout #4, 9.6. Man, I JUST missed the 9.8 again. Whelp, I'll have to keep trying, I guess. Current bid: $308

Wolverine #2, 7.5. Limited series by Claremont and Miller and my favorite cover of the lot. Current bid: $1

Wolverine #1, 9.8. Reboot first issue with a great 1:25 variant cover by R.B. Silva. Current bid: $2

X-Men #1, 9.8. Reboot first issue with a BEAUTIFUL Frankie's (virgin!) variant by JeeHyung Lee. Current bid: $50

Late addition! Batman #92 1:25, 9.6. I was going to pull this one to have it pressed and changed my mind. Should have pressed it before grading, but I didn't ... it would likely gain $100 in value with a bump to 9.8. But I decided I just didn't feel like waiting four months, you know? Oh, well. Great cover of Punchline by Jorge Jimenez. Current bid: $25
