Depends on the bag. Thin bags, sure. Thick bags, I'd tape around the actual edge to prevent any cover scratching.

I use mylite 2's for most books so yeah this would a good idea. ty!

Insert book.  Tape a box (preferably painters tape) around area you want signed.  The tape should create a border for your signature area.  Remove book.  Insert cardboard or backing board.  Use exact-o-knife to cut as close to the tape as possible.  Avoid cutting tape otherwise you leave sticky residue on your books.  Remove cardboard or backing board as it has likely been cut along with the bag.  Re-insert book/backing board.

other tips I would add from my vast experience with having books signed (1 ... but hey at least I went in informed)

familiarize yourself with the talent’s signature and make your window spacious enough to fit said signature

pick an eye pleasing spot on the book for the sig .... this may seem obvious but I’ve seen numerous books with little thought for this ... you may be limited by the busy-ness of the art on the cover

write on the window box tape what color you want the sig done in if you have a preference or want to avoid getting lost in cover art ... signer may not always heed your direction but it’s worth the ask if important to you

multi board the book in the bag .... you don’t know who will be handling the book and this may prevent unwanted damage
