It's not the same book at all.  How is the before picture crystal clear but the after picture is blurry?

He may threaten to get lawyers involved. After all, he already threatened to get lawyers involved when he briefly thought that getting called out for the character label shenanigans was somehow libelous. The thing is, anyone can threaten to sue.

Actually doing it? That's something different entirely. Because that would require getting an actual lawyer involved, who would then provide our buddy with some actual legal advice. None of which, I think, he'd very much enjoy at this point.

You know I saw that but someone mentioned photo shop so I kind of disregarded it lol

If he's all in maybe he used ps but seems somehow unlikely in order to have any credibility

It's very possible that PS was used, I am just pointing out defects/spots on the front cover hat line up in both photos.

Based on what I can see from the before and after photos, a lot of that damage would NEVER happen just by opening the book and popping a staple. There are new color breaking creases added along the spine, some horizontal and vertical. This lends me to believe some very aggressive work was done to this book. I do agree it was manhandled. The question is by whom? Based on what I know about disassembling a book, a fragile spine could crack like this simply trying to re-insert the staples. Done by someone who knows what they are doing could cause damage, image what a novice would do. 

We don't really need to image now, do we?

As I was not present when the book was graded or pressed, I can only speculate.

If this was comic disassembled to press undue pressure was put on the cover if it was pressed flat. If it was over hydrated or given a bath (the after image seems less tan to me) it could have weakened the paper fibers, especially if it was given a chemical bath. 

When the person working on the book tried to fold the cover back to insert the staples and interior pages it could have caused the spine to crack, because the paper was now rigid. Kind of like what happens to the spine when a comic cover is made out of card stock. 

They may have had a hard time getting the staples back in, or caused the paper to tear around the staples and used a dot of glue to hold it in place hoping CGC missed the glue. This would explain the popped staples and glue comments in the notes. 

 

The staples could have popped in-transit. Not likely to happen to two books and all 4 staples. 

 

CGC could have popped the staples. Again, since these were in the same invoice the only explanation I could think of for 4 staples to pop is a gorilla was pre-grading these books. Maybe the Lions Den can confirm CGC has never hired any gorillas to work for them.

That was definitely part of it. Although that is a little of an understatement.  He repeatedly exploited that character label issue as well as made sure to leave any description of said restoration off of his description in his sales listings. When members of the boards who have been dealing with comics for decades before this turd was born called him on it he not only got confrontational,  but rude. In spite of evidence of these misdeeds he continued to defend his position.  He also had several instances of WAY over grading his raw books, his response was basically it's my opinion I can list them how I want. Really just reading through the responses that other members have screen shot and posted here should give you a good idea of his character.  Too bad he can't get a label to cover his issues.
