It's hard to imagine this stuff becoming popular again but it could happen.  I never thought I'd see romance comics or 50s crime books selling well. but they're hot

Most definitely and even with some of the female career books such as Millie the Model, Nellie the Nurse, Tillie, the Toiler, etc. whereby copies are going for huge multiples to condition guide across the entire condition spectrum.  :whatthe:

So, maybe we should not give up on the old Westerns just yet and if more keys like Rifleman 10, Rawhide Kid 17, Tomahawk 116, etc. become hot in the marketplace, it just might bring some of the long overdue popularity back into the Western comic book marketplace.  :taptaptap:  :taptaptap:  :wishluck:

Yeah he stated in the video that he has hoping to find one buyer for all the comics or he will send them down to an auction house.. What happened to submitting these "pedigree" gems to CGC. I am guessing it would be cost prohibitive, as he wants some quick cash for the construction plans for building next door.

It would be very interesting to see how many MULTIPLES of his initial $10K investment he would like to get, sans the OSPGS he already recouped $2K for and not including  the many thousands of lobby cards/posters...A shame he revealed is cards at the onset about how he only paid $1.00 per book.  (:

I suspect he is looking for SIX figures just for the comics alone.

I think this is a beautiful collection that took many years to build and curate.  Someone loved these books.

I find it very sad that so much effort went into building and curating the collection and so little time spent for succession planning.  And while these aren't hot books they're old and appear to be in pretty good condition overall and they will sell over time.  I wish Artboy and I had known of this collection, would have loved to buy it.

Ask and ye shall receive as this must be your lucky day then, because at the 45-second mark of his latest video below, he says that he is looking for one single lucky buyer(s) such as the two of you who would buy the entire collection all in one shot now that you do know about it:  :gossip:

he posted about the movie posters that he acquired with the comics:

He claims to have 4,000-5,000 of them in bundles of 40-50.

I'm watching the Roy Rogers Far Frontier movie right now...it's pretty good...  :)  I love how in the Rogers movies everyone still rides horses even though it's the late 1940s...lol

He says he has an offer from either ComicConnect or Heritage for the whole collection.  Thankfully, he said it in the first few minutes and not an hour and a half into his video.

I like how the "buyer" got Ashton Kutcher to do the videos for him...:insane:

Actually, I thought it the "buyer" looked a lot more like the Fish (i.e. Stephen Fishler) from his younger days back in the late 80's and early 90's.  hm

If he was looking for a quick 50% profit I'd be all over it but I doubt that is the case.

It never hurts to ask although it looks like he's planning to do it the smart way by not being overly greedy and simply flipping it ALL out for a hopefully big fat profit, as opposed to being tied down with storing and moving it out slowly over a very long and extended period of time.  (thumbsu

If CC or Heritage doesn't come up with an amicable agreement on the price for the collection, maybe you can contact him and give it a shot.  In fact, if it drags out long enough, you might just be able to pick up the whole thing from him at a discount to the price which he had paid for the kit and kaboodle and then come up with your own set of enticing and scintillating videos here.   lol  :takeit:

doh!

In his latest video (don't know how to embed) "When Life hands you lemons" he says that Comic Connect bought the collection but there was a big shipping snafu with the trucking company...

Personally, I would have been ON SITE the day of pick up to make sure it went smoothly for a deal of that magnitude...

It looks as though some of the books have been placed on the Kastner Auctions site, primarily '50s/early '60s Dell Four Color issues.

These must be from that collection, as you see the oddly placed decal on each sleeve at left, with info & the OO's grade:

http://www.kauctions.ca/auction/antique1/820/1086#9

Now is your chance to bid on an O.S. Porky Pig (#351, 1951) with children's graffiti on its cover.  This was an auction-worthy book?

I didn't realize that this dude lives in my neighborhood.

The buyer's store is literally 9 blocks from my home. His prices are always high.

He can't grade comics, and it was difficult to watch him jam the books back into the boxes.

It looks like a cool looking shop from the outside but never bothered to venture in...

Any bets that this collection is now being marketed as the Quick Draw Collection in a special Wild West auction on CC scheduled to start on November 2:

 https://scoop.previewsworld.com/Home/4/1/73/1014?ArticleID=246784

The little write-up from Scoop says that the original owner was a geniune cowboy who was a quick draw specialist and the consignor wants to remain anonymous.  lol

Yes, due for about 30 years now.
