Getting signature on graded book. 0

*If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade.

Just curious why a book graded lets say  9.8 sent in for signature would not receive the same grade.  What would cause it to be different.  Thx

Good morning,

Thanks for your message.  Any time an encapsulated book is cracked out that original grade is no longer valid.  If that raw book then goes in for another signature and a third party is then handling the book for that signature, additional defects might occur during that signing which were not present at the original grading.  We grade the book on the current condition and not the previous condition.  It is entirely possible the book might get the same grade but there is no guarantee once it comes out of the holder.
