How many is “too many”?

I was watching Wheel of Fortune and the contestant was a comic book collector. He said he had 8,000 comics (25-30 long boxes) to which Pat Sajak said something about it being an obsession.

8K seems about average to me and I think for many of you seems quite low

so what is the average comic collection size?

The only maximum to a collection is your budget and the space you have available to store them.  Unless you are a dealer, I think having to rent out a storage area for your collection puts you in the category of having too many.  Having to do a calculation to see if your collection exceeds the weight limit of a room puts you right on the line.

If a collection of 8k books would be considered average, I don’t have a collection at all.  I currently only have 1 magazine box. :(

Quality over quantity, I can get behind that.

I have more than that, but not more than 3000 I think.

Probably around three long boxes in total, with two of them being stock for potential sale
