The time has come for yet another thread that will concentrate on my magazine duplicates.  All of these books are raw, and I store everything in Mylites2 and full back combos.  My goal is always to provide an accurate grade, and I use well accepted comic book methodology for grading, no variations for the additional size of the mags.  All scans of them again, though I clearly see that the scanner does hide some flaws, and does exaggerate others.  I did start a kudos thread, which doesn't necessarily reflect all of the over 1200 mags I’ve sold on the boards, but I had happy customers from my prior threads:

https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/453632-stevemmg-kudos-thread/

A few rules:

1.  Payment via PayPal is my current method.  Payment due within 48 hours of invoice.  If you can’t pay for it, please be courteous and let it go.  You can request an invoice at any time, or you can wait until the conclusion of the thread, and I will invoice you within a day or two.

2.  Most shipping is by USPS Priority Mail medium flat rate box. $13.95 for up to five books.  SHIPPING TO THE US ONLY AT THIS POINT. Sorry my Canadian friends, but I don’t have the extra time for the long lines at the post office.  If you’re in Canada and have a US shipping address I can send your wins to, please just let me know before you bid.  If you win a large quantity of books, I will pack securely in boxes and get with you on a shipping quote.  I have had cases where using the comic mailers for one or two mags were cheaper, and if that is an option in your case, we can do that too, and usually drops the cost down to around $9-10.  I'm not out to make money on shipping, but I am out to get your purchase there safely.  I won't use media mail or ship in envelopes.  I travel quite a bit, but try to work in the threads so I can ship your purchases right away.  All the books from the prior threads went out within one day of payment.

3.  Raw books are returnable up to two weeks, but please let me know they’re coming back. You pay return postage, but I will refund original shipping.

4.  First “I’ll take it” in the thread trumps pm’s.  I don’t mind pm’s, but at the pace the threads usually run, I might not see it right away, which may allow someone else to claim a mag you want.

I’ve done business with most every major dealer in the country , so if you need references, I’m sure we can find a common connection.

Skywalds in general are far more difficult to find, and then often extremely difficult to obtain above an accurately graded 8.0.  When I started these sales threads, I had over 28 boxes of duplicate Warren mags, compared to just one box of duplicate Skywalds.  If you've been collecting these, I'm sure this isn't news to you.  These aren't complete runs, although I do have several copies of some issues.  This is all of them, so I won't be able to take requests for more of these as I've done with the Warren mags.

My personal relationship to Skywald magazines is very different than my history with Warrens.  While my best pal’s Grandma was carting home remaindered copies of Warrens to us without fail every month in the swingin’ ‘70’s, I had never even seen a Skywald magazine until they were long defunct in the 1980’s.  While I can’t speak for all of the country, Skywald clearly had very poor distribution by comparison.  For me personally, I have found they were the true competitor to Warren, with many of the same creators showing up here, and found their own cool way under the guidance of Hewetson.  For the collector, they are a real challenge to not only find, but to find in nice shape.  Another cool attraction is that it’s a really limited number of mags, so a whole collection is made up of less than 100 issues.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you like along the way.

First up, an issue from one of the short-lived two issue series that Skywald produced, Crime Machine 2 in VF 8.0 for $50.  Perhaps trying to fill the demand for Crime and Detective related mags that were popular at the time, Skywald gave this title a try with virtually all reprints from IW/Super comics from the 1950’s.  Overstreet claims that there are contributions here from Doug Wildey and Angelo Torres, but your guess is as good as mine as two what they are.  The cover is simply accredited to “Palmer”, which most assume is Tom Palmer.  This issue, as with many Skywalds is tough to find in this nice of shape.

Nightmare 3 VF+ 8.5 $70.  In the fall of 1970, Skywald kicks it all off with their first horror mood title, Nightmare.  Some of these early issues like this one feature covers by the then fairly unknown artist, Boris Vallejo.  While many of the contributors to the content are very notable, coming from the same pool as Warren, many are also notables from Marvel.  The story “Vault of a Vampire” is the first from Al Hewetson, who becomes the most important figure in the Skywald legend.  SOLD TO JRBAXTER

Nightmare 4 VF 8.0 $50.  Harry Rosenbaum provides the somewhat comical cover based on the story “Phantom of the Rock Opera” inside.  Tom Sutton who some of you will remember fondly from Warren is a contributor.  There’s also an ad for Science Fiction Odyssey magazine inside, which was killed off before it ever saw print.  This is a square bound issue, which they continue up to #9.  SOLD TO CHASINGKINGKIRBY

Nightmare 9 F/VF 7.0 $25.  Wrapped in a picture frame style cover, this Pujolar cover should look familiar to anyone who also collects Warren mags, as it also is the cover for the much later Creepy #145.  Al Hewetson, Pablo Marcos and Ramon Torrents are your most recognized contributors.  On the letters page, they announce that they will give away the Bill Everett pinup from Nightmare #1 to a lucky fan.  Don’t you miss the days when publishers would give out original art as prizes?  SOLD TO CHASINGKINGKIRBY

Nightmare 12 VF+ 8.5 $40.  The cover is credited to Jad, and you’ll recognize Hewetson, Marcos and T Casey Brennan.  Richard Milhouse Nixon makes an unofficial appearance in “The Horror War”, otherwise known as VietNam. I’ve been chasing this issue in grade very hard, and as a result, I’ve got five copies to list, from the best down.  SOLD TO CHASINGKINGKIRBY
