Scream 3 VF- 7.5 $40  Ricardo Villanova provides a wonderful cover with the venerable Christopher Lee as it’s main subject.  According to the well-known Skywald expert Jay-Man, and man who’s collection provided all the cover examples for the Skywald Horror-Mood book that you should own, this is about the toughest issue of the Skywald offerings.  He may certainly correct me if I’ve mis-remembered his statement.  Jay-Man has championed the Skywald line of mags on these boards for a very, very long time and provides fantastic information along the way.

Scream 11 VF 8.0 $40.  The final issue of the series with a cover by Ballestar and Cintroen.  As with the other final issues, has five pages of merchandise available, similar to the Warren Captain and Company type ads and products.  By the way, anyone have or seen the library slipcases for Nightmare, Psycho or Scream?  They’re advertised for quite awhile in the issues, but I never run across those.  I’m looking for one of each.  SOLD TO TAYLORG

Nightmare 3 VF+ 8.5 $70.  In the fall of 1970, Skywald kicks it all off with their first horror mood title, Nightmare.  Some of these early issues like this one feature covers by the then fairly unknown artist, Boris Vallejo.  While many of the contributors to the content are very notable, coming from the same pool as Warren, many are also notables from Marvel.  The story “Vault of a Vampire” is the first from Al Hewetson, who becomes the most important figure in the Skywald legend.

Nightmare 1973 Winter Special VF/NM 9.0 $90.  The picture frame Ken Kelly cover is a real eye grabber with that unusual orange-brown surrounding a haunting image.  “Beware it…. Fear it… It Screams!” along with lots of other fun stories.  A review of “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” that makes me want to go back and watch it.  If you are into this sort of thing, if you grade this copy, it should give you the second highest encased copy.

That’s all for the Skywald thread this year, my friends.  As always, having you all here to contribute is what keeps me coming back with more.  I wasn't sure who would be around if I did this tonight, and I was really glad to have some many who've joined me before hang out again.  I hope you got some that fit nicely in your collections, and I appreciate you trusting me with your hard earned sheckles.  I hope to get all of the invoices put together tomorrow so I can get everyone’s books delivered to them before the end of the week.  I believe I have all of the sold books marked as such, so if you want to make any additions, feel free.  I'll double check them all, and put up the recap in the morning.  Thank you so very much!
