ChrispyC66 Posted November 5, 2020 Share Posted November 5, 2020 (edited) I saw a Cap 100 CGC 9.9 for sale on EBay and was curious of its history. I noticed the very low cert number 0001990003 and checked the cert lookup. It was graded on 4/23/01, pretty early in the days of CGC slabs. I also checked for other books on that order and found certs 0001990001 and 0001990002, another Cap 100 at 9.9 and a 9.9 Hulk 181. There has to be a story behind these three books and whoever submitted them. I also saw the Cap 100 on EBay had been reslabbed. Does anybody know their story? Popular Post namisgr Posted November 5, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2020 (edited) While I don't know the history of these particular copies, I know that in the mid-1990s there was a warehouse find of 1968 Marvel #1s, including the first Cap (#100), first Hulk (#102), and first Dr. Strange (#169) in their own solo series, along with Submariner #1, Ironman #1, Nick Fury #1, and the Ironman-Subby one shot, plus a few of the second issues and the two Spectacular Spiderman magazine issues. The books were sold by World's Finest Comics, the business run by Mark Wilson in Washington state. As I was an occasional customer, I received the catalog, which had all of these books in multiple copies in NM, NM+, and NM/M grades. So while I don't know for sure, it wouldn't be surprising if the books you mentioned that were graded in the same submission were from this warehouse find. Here is one that I picked up at the time and had graded many years later.
