Prices are due for a major uptick.  This series is hugely important to the comic industry, has a ton of nostalgia and prices are way lower than other early appearances of major characters.  They rarely come up.  The recent page 7 splash was a good buy for whoever got it.  And that TMNT 1 complete book solidly would deserve the 1M price tag today.

Yes, I'd always thought prices were undervalued. Simply because if I could afford them, they must be too cheap!

But yes, scarcity is always going to be issue here. Say someone wants an early Eastman and Laird page from the main storyline with at least one turtle image on it (which in my experience, is generally the most desired Turtles art). Well, right off the back you are looking at roughly 16 issues of art where you could hope to get one from, TMNT 1 - 11, and the 4 individual Turtle "Micro" books, drawn from 1984-1987. Problem is, about half those are complete and/or completely off market, with Laird's half of the books being the primary ones you never seen anything of. So now you're down to 8ish books that a person might reasonably hold a chance of getting a page and the vast majority of those simply have never appeared publicly. And with demand increasing (even Pre-covid) for Turtles collectibles as whole from the early toys, comics, video games, and artwork I wouldn't be surprised if that page 7 splash looks cheap in the not too distant future.

I’d love an early page but now I’ve seen some crazy prices. In fact, a person on Facebook is asking $37,500 for a Raphael 1 page.

Yes, theres a 59K Raphael page on ebay as well...I'm bullish on Turtles art but I think that's a bit much at the moment. In case you hadn't seen it, I'm helping a friend sell some early TMNT art that is much more reasonable in comparison.

I hate this thread because I love it so much. Suddenly fighting urges to devour pizza and shout cowabunga! Stupid heroes in a half-shell.

Here’s something cool I bought from the boys back in the eighties. A hardcover collection of all the early stories and original art work drawn on the inside. Only 1000 made this is 221/1000

I love that hardcover collection. This essentially wrapped up those early issues I was talking about earlier in one tidy package. There's a Laird cover for the softcover edition and an Eastman for the hardcover edition. I'm super fortunate to have that hardcover original painting:

It's up on my CAF if you want to read my brief write up on it.

My copy of this hardcover has bee in almost every house I've ever lived in. I may not collect traditional 'nostalgia" comic art, but I sure as hell have a bunch of books that this applies to. I remember sending away for my copy way back when. Headsketches and all. Mine was one of the last in the 1000 copy run. Fond memories. Seeing the art is a trip. It's MUUUUUCH darker in the printed cover.
