Anyone know what the deal is with the staple placement on the back cover?

There's nothing suspect about the staple placement which is fairly common and a normal part of the production process. I'm lower at 6.0 myself given the surface wear, spine creasing, top left scratch and lower right creasing. It could be my eyes, but the top front edge looks uncommonly clean compared to the rest of the book and may be trimmed? Nice interior.

Eyes. Chance of top edge trim = only about 10% IMO. Though a good observation and question, in picking up what could be a tell.

Looks 6.5 to 7.0 to me. I do not like it when the staples are placed so off-center from the spine because that can cause more paper tearing when simply reading the book and turning the pages.
