 I caution everyone to take heed and use Fedex or UPS as an alternative. I personally  am affected as a buyer and seller and have had my packages locked in limbo with only late status notices.  I am seriously considering never using their services and sticking with the big 2 instead and charging accordingly.

I have had no problems with USPS except media mail will take way longer than usual lately. I mostly get things sent priority mail and that stuff comes super fast for me every time still.

I don't trust UPS especially, they treat everything like it's a football and I have had so many things broken and smashed that I will never ever use UPS again after that and knowing people that work there and their stories of how they treat packages.

All 3 are slow and having just seeing the clerk at UPS that took my box marked fragile and toss it he is lucky I packed securely. 

I am not sure if people don't realize that the shipping companies are almost just as burnt out as emergency responders.  It has been christmas since March with all carriers experiencing more online ordering.

It's hit or miss.  The USPS First Class parcel I sent (from CA to FL) earlier this week was delivered in 3 days.  The USPS Priority International parcel I sent (from Sacramento to the UK) in mid-November was delivered in 6 days.  But some regional distribution hubs and neighborhood units are slower than molasses.

The biggest concern I have with post-Thanksgiving shipping is accuracy rather than speed.  The temps are generally unfamiliar with the routes they're given, and they often don't have the same sense of personal accountability/responsibility as the regular carriers.

No problem here with UPS or USPS but FedEx is the bottom of the barrel. I hate getting anything sent by them.Left in wrong places,in the rain,back of old junk cars.A real shoot and that's not even taking the holidays into account.

The same thing happened to me, although not for $520. Luckily for me, the books ultimately showed up, and the buyer repaid me the money that I had refunded him/her.

At that point I'd pay the 30.00 and file package intercept and have it returned to you. May be a pain in the butt but I fully plan on utilizing that feature on the 2k item I sent out if the eBay party ask for a refund before delivery

If one files a missing mail search / usps claim, you can specify where it should be sent if found (saves 30, and, if mailed priority, also helps establish usps priority mail 50 usd claim).
