This actually made me feel better. I have 2 that were held in the NY PO that is only 20 minutes from me, for 7 days. One mailed the 13th (really the 12th), the other the 14th.The one going from NY to VA, is now in Ct. The one going to CA is in Anaheim, which is close at least.

Waiting on a number of things.  There is no rhyme nor reason as to why I am waiting for some rather than others. Orders using priority shipping are stuck in transit while items ordered before that and sent first class have already arrived.  After some of the Disney announcements I bought a number of copies of a certain book up. It was a hit or miss as some of those that were sent via media and first class were already received.  (Seriously).  My priority packages are all delayed and the only priority package I received on time came from a board member in MA.   It makes no sense...

So here it what I surmise.  It does not depend on what class service you paid for.  It does not matter the location.  California first class arrived sooner than Maryland first class.   I believe it has to do with how overwhelmed a specific hub or point of origin is.  That could do with staffing among many other factors.

I'm thinking it's a LIFO (Last in first out) situation, as my early December packages are at the bottom of piles in these distribution centers (one clerk from an amazingly high customer rating says that she's herd they're loaded up to the ceiling with packages.

 

This is exactly what is going on. Packages shipped to me in early December have barely moved whereas orders placed more recently have already arrived in a relatively short amount of time.

One of my missing packages finally started moving. It has spent 17 days in New Jersey, moving a little over 100 miles.

Just printed this label. Item going to Ashburn, Virginia, from my house. Estimated delivery date for USPS Priority Mail January 7. If I left now, I could drop it off by 1, have lunch, and be back at my house before dark. Walking.

That's easy...they already lost timeliness on the old ones, so they are doing the new stuff first so they will be counted as "timely".

Not the comic book "Timely".
