Show the comic board community your Top 3 Comic Book and/or Original Art purchases for your collection for the year ending 2020!

(Post only personal acquisitions, and not items you have sold or dealer profit books, etc...)

Provide a little background on each item in relation to why they were your top priority in 2020.

I am really concentrating on my ASM run in HG so I am buying a few per year till its done. Here are the top 3 from 2020!

I braved the mad rush at the art drop to get a few pages of OA from Wonder Woman: Dead Earth 1 and 2, before issues 3 and 4 sold complete.

Alright so this year was bad but it actually was my most successful year in terms of adding some great books at even greater value. And I added a LOT!

But here are my top 3!

3. Terrors of the Jungle 17

Someday I want to tackle the goal of getting as many of the comics referenced in SOTI as well as a copy of it. Someday. In the meantime this started the gear off right for me and was an eBay but that I feel was well under value. And it scratched my LB Cole itch that I get every year to try to add at least one or two of his covers to the PC.

2. Haunt of Fear 17

Prior to this issue, I had no EC horror books in the PC. That had to change and so as part of my October purchases, I nabbed this off the boards. I always buy something Halloween comic related during October every year and this year will go down as one of my favs.

1. Amazing Spider-Man 129

A book that needs no introduction. As part of a large collection I purchased, this was the best book and I was beyond excited that the guy had it. I kept a lot from the collection and this was far and away something I never expected this year but happily will take as a positive memory of 2020.

Honorable mentions: Over 200 Bronze Age books I love, from some fillers to some missing ASM issues, to some 30 cent variants. All gathered and loved.

Also my comic rack currently residing with a friend who picked it up for me but will be with me in the new year!

I think I'm happier with these than with any of the comics I bought this year.

The Hulk vs Thing and the Silver Surfer #4 homage are commissions I got from Ron Frenz some years ago (spoiler), and I commissioned Mike Royer this year to ink them.

The Wrightson piece I recognized right away as The Ghoul, but the seller listed it as "Monster by Wrightson". No idea if it would have been more expensive if he new it was a published character. Of course it isn't like it's the Swamp Thing.

This year was a year for upgrades. So in no particular order. Here are 3 books I love. 
- Iron fist 14 CGC 9.6

- Daredevil 131 CGC 9.6

- New Mutants 98 CGC 9.8

Honorable Mention: Not upgrades but added to my girl cover collection- X23 #1 Dell Otto and Spider-Man presents Black cat #1 Campbell.

This is always a tough one; this thread's cousin, the Golden Age Year in Review thread, was compounded by comics-related items in addition to books, as I picked up my first ever keeper pulp, a Sunday strip OA from 1942 (Smilin' Jack) and the Feb 27, 1940 Look magazine, with an original two-page Superman story where he drags Hitler and Stalin out of their HQ's and brings them before a world court. But in the end its about the comics, and there's 2 Silver Age keys that have to be here, so I am naming an honorable mention as well, as I can't quite bump either of these Silver books for my #2 GA addition this year.

So here's my top 3 and honorable mention, in no particular order: In the case of the OAAW #83, I bought an entire 1,800-book collection to add it; the Action 252 came out of an LCS that rarely has major keys; the Bullseye 11 was buried in an ebay lot of Golden Age (not giveaway priced or even cheap by any means, but this book does not come up often) and the Superman #14 was part of a comic collection that a rare books dealer a couple hours from me had landed. I saw it on ebay but noticed the city and deduced the shop from the handle, then went in-person to see it.

A welcome appearance of my favourite pre-Christmas thread.

I haven’t bought original comics for several years now, but that doesn’t stop me from sharing in the amazing enthusiasm that’s always shown here about the books and art which have brought the greatest enjoyment and positivity  to other boardies, and during a year constantly, darkly overcast by isolation and uncertainty.

It’s an especially important celebration at this time.

Looking forward to seeing some fantastic material.

This year has been light on comic-related purchases. Edited to add why:

1. I have all of the floppies, but wanted to get the full experience where I don't have to keep the single issues in order.

2. I wanted one of Darkseid's definitive stories, to mirror what I have for Thanos.

3. I wanted some comic nostalgia that wasn't superhero-related. Garfield doesn't have a collected edition set.

Great collecting year. Nicest book was BA12 which have been in my want list for 4 years. I just haven't seen it ever on Ebay for under 150$. I got my copy much cheaper in a trade
UF4 was from Ebay. I bought it in February before covid and PS5 Miles Morales. The seller had another book I was interested so I bought UF4 as well to cut a deal.
I saw someone last year in here selling X-men Mutant Apocalypse and because of that Key Collector App there suddenly were many copies in Ebay for well under 100$.
Bloodstone 1 was like BA12 which I never found in Ebay for the price I was willing to buy it but this year I found the whole set from LCS for like 15$.

Wonder Woman and Captain America were cheap pickups with great covers and DD 249 was part of cheap lot. My first double cover

Great pick-ups especially the OAAW 83, which is the most difficult major Silver Age key to find and even more of an achievement to get in that condition.
