Per his son, Matthew, Steve passed last night due to a cardiac arrest.

I really liked Steve and his art work. His Legion run was excellent, but I really liked the man.

Steve was a very gifted artist. So 2021 gains an entry on the heartbreak checklist. Very sad news, thanks for the update Alex.

Damn. Always liked his work. I remember when DC rebooted Doom Patrol in the 80s and Lightle drew the first 6 issues or so and then Erik Larsen took over. I can't imagine a more jarring, frustrating, and disheartening change of styles from one issue to the next. Lightle's work was so smooth and fluid. Larsen's is ....... not

Very sad news indeed. It says something that despite the brevity of his DP run, it's well remembered by those who were reading it at the time. Very fluid, dynamic figures and fun panel designs. RIP.

Ugh, covid takes another one early.  Age 61.  I remember his run on Classic X-Men, that's where I know his work most.  RIP.  As a clarification I mentioned covid because his wiki page mentions this was a cardiac complication of covid, not a sudden heart attack or arrest on its own.

Much respect.  Wish I could've met him to say thank you.

His Planet of the Symbiotes arc remains impactful to this day for Venom fans.

Sad to hear. Never met Steve, but had great respect for his work. He was 61, same age as me. Value your time like it's in short supply people. Because it is.
