I think it was melted by the fire. Although candidly, most of Conan looks off.
What is he wearing, a T shirt? Is he really doing a Stanley Kowalski imitation?

For this piece, you wonder the whiteout and the stat (I think it's a stat and not an art paste over) were too much for the new owner. Sometimes the distraction caused by the art/production fixes outweigh the enjoyment of remaining artwork.

that's a good point.   It IS pretty distracting on this one.    Or maybe @vodou told him that leg wasn't a leg and he shipped it off to the auction house immediately.

Its a piece that would have to disappoint a bit in person, I would think.    For me anyways... not that the current or future owners need to give AF about other opinions.

It's hard to defend the wonkiness of some of the drawing of this cover. So I won't try. That said, I still dig it. Not in a "I need to add this to my collection way". More like I have the big picture of the trajectory of BWS's career as a whole and this is in keeping with that trajectory and aesthetic, with a measure of nostalgia thrown in I'll admit. Flawed as it is, I get visceral pleasure from this piece, as I do from about 99% of the artist's work. No apologies. The heart loves what the heart loves, warts and all!
