Frank Miller needs to learn how to draw.

More accurately, he needs to REMEMBER how to draw. Its like he is trying to protect the value of his older work by turning in only crude disjointed now.

+1

His early work is masterful.

Most 80s DC original art is way undervalued

Or perhaps just under-valuable. They were kinda in the doldrums creatively. When characters like Vibe and Gypsy get lifted out for us in The Flash TV show, for instance, it's really just the character names, assigned to brand new characters with different powers and personalities.

Hot Take: People's perceptions to monoprints will change when they start selling for thousands at auction

Just connecting a couple dots

https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/story-page-original-art-group-of-2-dc-2020-/p/122108-51011.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116

The listing shows 2 COAs for the 2 monoprints.

But the current description (bolding by me) is:

Story Page Original Art Group of 2 (DC, 2020). Two pages from writer Tom King's epic (and controversial) run on Batman, including from Issue 49 -- it's the Cat vs. the Clown in the aftermath of their exciting showdown, and from Issue 83, Bruce finally learns of Alfred's death, and mourns the loss of his friend. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with image areas of 10" x 15". Soft handling wear and in Excellent condition.

Hot take: The lot sold for $71 including the premium.  What a steal !!!

And they "fixed" the description too.

Mikel Janin - Batman Artist Proofs Monoprints Group of 2 (DC, 2018 - 2019). These are two artists proofs measuring 11" x 17" and come with COAs. Soft handling wear and in Excellent condition.

They won't go up in value until digital becomes the strong majority of working style chosen by well known artists in the field.

On the other hand, when digital becomes the dominant choice, pencil and ink pieces from the past might go up more in value.

Who knows

This is what I see happening. Like it or not, new pencil and ink pages will start to become rarer and rarer. The prices of pen & ink pages from sought after artists will sky rocket...maybe not so much for less desirable artists.

monoprints or NFT digital pages.....these will eventually be the norm.

Also, while I don't doubt the 'cold reception' to monoprints by the community at this point in time (misplaced or not), Heritage was definitely not the right place to sell one by auction!

I see this as having a historical antecedent with posters or litho’s.. Yes, they will go up, but not like an oil.
