Movie or tv show you should watch at least once

I took the thread title as "hey, here is one I know about and enjoyed that you should watch" more than "let's list all the movies everyone should watch" but it is subjective.

I will think of one now since I am here...hold on a sec...:preach:

There are some drop dead funny scenes here. If you only know Ruth Gordon from the Clint Eastwood ourang outan movies, you'll love her here.

wifey yelled at me the other day when I was talking about the movies in this thread

"daughter  no.2 (she used her real name, wifey isn't an insufficiently_thoughtful_person) says she doesn't remember watching Midnight Run!"

so we'll be watching that in the next week or so

I’m beginning to think these have been leading questions for a chance to show off your signed movie artifacts , either way - no harm no foul :baiting:

Here's one I enjoyed that people may not be aware of.  Not his best film by any means but still worth a watch

(not John Carpenter's best film that is.  It's probably Roddy Piper's best film!)

I bet you love it. It is a bit cheesy but it is a good B movie, it knows what it is and maximizes that. The one scene approaches parody, you'll know it when it happens, but it is fun. Just OVER THE TOP!

plus it addresses the negative aspects of commercialism and elements of racism while being a fun sci-fi action movie

Now if you want a plain old spooky Carpenter film that was an an enjoyable watch

absolutely.

I added the B part and now see how that changes the sentence completely. It is a good movie.

okay, a little more then

wifey walked by a minute or 3 ago and I said hey, they brought up They Live. We watched it back in the day and showed it to our two teen daughters at some point, maybe 3 years or so ago (now 18 & 22). Wifey says she was floored because of how it ends, and watching it with our youngish girls was quite a shock! So anyone who has seen the movie will recall generally how it ends, but watch the very last scene again and you may be shocked now. I am taking wifey's word on this as it didn't hit me even in these more aware times but she says that she was shocked.

Here's one I watched a month ago or so with a very good cast.  I though the child actor did a very good job.

It's about a boy coming to grips with his anger from a divorced family, bullying at school but mostly his mother's cancer.

Sounds like a droll drama but he's helped out by a giant tree monster voiced by Liam Neeson

Amazon.com: A Monster Calls: Felicity Jones, Liam Neeson, Lewis MacDougall, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Kebbell, J. A. Bayona: Movies & TV

my daughter enjoyed this and watched it so I saw it eventually. The kid is very good, I agree

Here's one for the kids...and adults get to watch Jon Voight crew up the scenery.

I readily admit to being a big fan of young Shia LaBeouf, he's great here and in the Evens Stevens tv show as well. BEANS! I hope he figures it all out sooner than later but he seems on the right path if it is taking a bit long. Lindsay Lohan was fantastic too, at least now she says she is happy.

here is a kids show run, my daughter grew up along with these stars so I watched much of this in live time

Kenan's been great on SNL and I watched first episode of his new show and liked it.

Been a long time since I've seen Holes - plus that's 2 in a row with Sigourney Weaver!

Now for the trifecta!

This one was out a decade ago and I see it as just a love letter to the Horror film genre.  I can watch it every time I come across it

Plus I try to speed read the "odds board" where the bets are posted in that one scene to catch Easter Eggs.
