Michelinie can't control what Marvel does with it after he's gone, and it probably sells more books for any subsequent host and the symbiote to also be called Venom. Either way, the symbiote by itself is not Venom.

Well, if you can't trust Marvel's great editors and writers from whenever that :censored: happened, who can you trust?

Also, you're now arguing that ASM 252 is Venom's first appearance, which is absurd.

I'm arguing that 252 is the symbiote first appearance which Marvel has, over the years, turned into its own entity.  Even the current Cates Venom run has acknowledged that the symbiote name is Venom.

Eddie never appeared before he joined with the symbiote. Venom (barely) appeared in Web 18.

Who knows.  Maybe we see a shift, and continuity begins to matter more than publication dates, and Secret Wars 8 becomes the first true appearance. This crazy market wants what it wants.

Somebody could pay a trillion dollars for a copy of MSHSW 8 (and I would hope to be the seller lol), but unless they have a time machine, they still won't be able to change the fact that ASM 252 is the first appearance.

What, do you think that there are no stories that show the symbiote before it was imprisoned (which is obviously before Spidey acquired it)? Is Action Comics 1 really not even close to being the first appearance of Superman?
