I've seen that sort of accumulation where someone has purchased multiple collections and has picked through them and decided to purge (ie, liquidate) the rejects.

No, but I'm hopeful some nicer books will appear. The water damage was bad, but looks like it only affects less than 1/5 of the books. The bad ones I'm just throwing away.

I'm just comparing this to a collection my buddy bought for $500-iron man 1, sub mariner 1, ASMs in the 40s-70s, FF's in the 40s-70s, and lots of Iron man and later tales o suspense.  Grades in the 7.0-8.5 range.

You can get rid of must odor but its kind of a lengthy process.  Rub hands across each page wiping hands with towel every few pages then place page by page in front of fan for 10 min/page.
