FF 5 miscut or trimming? Please take a look and comment

Hello,

I know these early silver age and FFs have a bunch of different cuts and wraps. I use to have a FF 9 who had some resemblance to this cut but with this book being so pricey and valuable now I am nervous about it.

I am worried about trimming on the right side as the comic code is close the edge of the paper as well as the text bubble towards the bottom. Inside the cover the distance from the black line of the ad is larger and gets smaller as it reaches the top.

Let me know your thoughts and analysis. Much appreciated. This is a recent acquisition and I just want to make sure if I send it in it doesn’t surprise me with a resto label.

It's always hard to tell through pictures.

To me, the edges all look like they have consistent wear. Nothing looks "sharp" or raises any red flags. The cover wear looks pretty consistent with the page wear (from what I can tell).

The CC box being close to the edge is pretty common with books from this era.  I've seen it partially cut off without any trimming.  When it's lying flat there is still none of the inner wraps showing which is a good sign.

From what I can see, I don't think there is trimming.

Pretty copy of a book I would love to own!

What you have there is a untouched grail that has not been trimmed in any way shape or form from what I can see if it has been done it’s probably been done a very very long time ago it looks to me like it’s all original awesome book brother defiantly should send in for a grading

I did not see any type of glue remains when I inspected it. I decided to send it off to an expert and am waiting to see what he says once he evals it.

I did have another boardie that showed me his blue label with even a tighter wrap cut, so I am heavily leaning towards NOT TRIMMED.

Thanks to all that contributed thoughts.

I know there are 1 or 2 people on these boards that are very good at detecting trimming. I am terrible at it. That being said, I have received numerous books back from CGC with cuts similar to this, or even worse, and they all have come back with blue labels.  You can always ask CGC to screen for restoration if you do not want to risk the purple label.
