I recently upgraded this book, so I thought I'd sell this copy, although I'm tempted not to, lol. 

This book was from the Evelyn collection, I sold many of her books for her a few years ago, but this was one I bought way before that. Evelyn's books have one common characteristic, the covers have great color. Her husband who was the collector in the family, was an engineer and an artist, so he prized color.

Superman was a much tougher guy in 1940/1, he sometimes picked up a gun, threatened to kill people, called Lois a "sob sister" wore a "dressing gown", etc. The stories are pure history, giants, enemies from the 5th column, bad guys at the circus, just a pleasure to read.

I found 3 completed sales on eBay for this year of lower grade books. 

 

Missing centerfold with a piece off lower right and archival tape $449

The book has great color (as I said) light colored supple pages, probably in the OW range. There is some writing on the cover and a few stamps. Elwood, the OO,  decorated his books that way, there were many in the collection with his name.

One inside page has a 1" tear and there is one folded corner that I don't want to mess with because the book is 80 years old. There is a 1" tear on the back cover.

The detached centerfold appears to be from another book, it's the right centerfold, but the staple holes  and color do not exactly match this one.

It's in the 3.0 range, maybe a little better, but it's a qualified copy because of the centerfold.

The book actually looks better in person, but when  I saw the scan after I posted it, I lowered the grade and didn't lower the price, so I'm going to do that now.

I still have a bunch of Evelyn books . The ones I got years and years ago. I don't like parting them, but I don't like keeping doubles, it's part of my very mild ocd;)  The lower grade collector ocd;)
