Batman Adventures

Logan's Run

After seeing this, I was curious to know how Logan's Run 6 was doing right now, if it was a crazy hot book or not. And it's still a 9.8 or bust type of book for the moment.

Yeah, it's not a lot more expensive than the rest of the series, but I had to include something on the list that wasn't one of the obvious choices. :)

Lots of titles.  Here's my categories:

The no No. 1 titles

Whiz, Marvel Mystery, Human Torch, Amazing Man, Amazing Fantasy, etc.

The variety type titles

Four Color, Showcase, etc.

The cover is everything titles

Suspense, Fantastic, most LB Cole and Baker works, etc.

The superhero debut titles

All-Star, All-American, Detective, etc.

Any other categories?  Maybe key artist or writer starts on the title issues?  Low print runs?  Variants?

Iron Man?? ...which is pricier, Iron Man #1 or #55??

I just looked this up.

Iron Man 1 is about 50-60% more expensive these days than 55 in 8.0, 9,0, and 9.4.

I'd add Wolverine (1988) - # 35 is still megabucks (9.8 only).

West Coast Avengers - # 45 is still ridiculus.

The "limited or non-standard distribution" category:

  • Black Hole (the Disney one, not the Charles Burns one), Little Lulu, Super Goof, etc. (distributed only in Whitman multipacks)
  • Miracleman #15 (vastly limited distrubution compared to #1, among many other reasons it's appealing)

There are probably quite a few more cases where the last issue of a mediocre series creeps past #1 due to its tiny, tiny print run.

What does Whiz Comics 1 look like?

Golden Age (1938-1955):Superhero, Thrill Comics #1 Ashcan (Fawcett, 1940) CGC VF/NM 9.0 White pages....

Whiz Comics' first issue was no. 2.  The numbering started at 2 because the "first issue" was an ashcan.  Like Double Action Comics no. 2.
