Mystery Comics #4- scarce Schomburg Klan cover. 2 day auction

Today's offering is a fairly hard to come by copy of Mystery Comics #4, published in 1944 by the William Wise company(?)

The books cover feaures the Golden Age Wonderman vs a bunch of grave robbing psudeo- klansmen.

Not only does this book offer a classic Schomburg cover, but he is also credited with doing some of the interior art.

By the way- if you thought Simon Williams had bad taste in costumes, check out his predecessor Brad Spencer.

This Wonderman is not the Wonderman created by Will Eisner nor is he related to Marvels Wonderman.

Last issue of the title, so it may well be the final time The Magnet, Lance Lewis, Zudo the  Jungle Boy or The King of Futuria ever appear.

Another kool thing about this book is it features an Assyrian tablet very much like the one featured in Spiderman books in the late 1960s.

The book was bought from MyComicShop and was graded a 2.5 by them. I'd call it a 3.0 but won't quibble.

cover is loose but attached

centerfold is detached

Hard to find any recent sales but a coverless copy is currently on eBay for about $160.

Now for some legalese.

NO Bad guys, no shipping outside of the US, paypal only, BIN is $573.27

Shipping is $10  but if the final hammer price is $175 or higher, I'll throw in free shipping.

Auction ends Weds. at 10PM NYC time, or if there are last minute bids the auction will continue until there are no bids for three minutes.

Photos to follow shortly.

Thanks to all who look and bid.

By all means. It was a joke. Cool book by the way.

So bid high and often. I'd love to be able to spend some of your money, after you win.
