So, the challenge with this one is that the cover is completely detached AND split in two. Interior is in good shape. I picked it up recently for the historical value if nothing else, but am wondering whether it could ever merit a grade above a 1 to 1.8. And is there ever a circumstance where “fixing” the cover and accepting the dreaded purple label makes sense, or is that just crazy? 🤪

The best looking 1.0 out there.

You could have the cover leaf casted back together and get a conserved label (I think).

But I wouldn't.  I think it would only hurt the value and if it's encapsulated no one will see if anyway.

That books on my want list for sure! Congrats

As a reference point and for comparison purposes only (this isn't mine, just found photo on GoCollect), the condition description here gives me hope there's the chance of a 1.5 -- same defect, cover spine completely split and detached but otherwise presents well...
