Nice try, Heritage bidder, you gave me a chuckle.

I didn't even know you could get unsolicited offers through Heritage.  I know its a CROW, but what a lowball offer!

TL/DR:  Bought a SS#1 9.0 CROW from Heritage in December 2019, received a random offer for $3700 today through the HA site.

You can shut it off if you go to "My Heritage" and then "My Collections" on the Heritage site.

I think Heritage automatically sets it up to receive offers and you would have to manually shut it off if you don't want offers.

But, then again, you might find the offers humorous!

Thanks, just did.  I guess whoever sent it is enterprising, combing through sales from prior years.  Who knows, maybe one will hit!

when you search for a book on Heritage it will also show you past sales results.

Heritage allows offers of 50% over the prior sale price.  I'm guessing they do get some extra sales from that feature, when collector/investors didn't realize the price was up 50% in just a year or two.  That's a big gain for an investor, and could be insulting to a collector.  Both are reasonable reactions.

I've sold via the unsolicited offer function before and was actually happy to do so.

Had a 4.0 Startling # 10 (first Fighting Yank).

It's a rare book but it's also got a really thin collector base and isn't really liquid.

The price offered was probably more than it would have sold for at open auction at the time, as I'd sold my 7.0 Startling # 11 via a Comic Link a few months earlier for a bargain.

But yeah - knowing both FMV and the relative liquidity of the book in question is key.
