Most of their stuff is non depressing, seems simple while instrumental etc

Their first/debut album was 39/smooth. 

Although they did have an extended play debut , 1,000 hours.

As a guitarist, I don't mind jazz. FOB isn't my cup of tea, but I think they've produced some unique and catchy sounds at times. Green Day is consistently like "the most annoying sound" by Dumb and Dumber. Literally the worst band in music history IMO.
