I lucked out on a giant pile of coverless I bought...... hidden gem alert... Adventure 40 2 2

I always find it fun to go thru a nice pile of GA coverless.  Fingers crossed that SOMETHING awesome will show up.

Tonight..... the good news is.... I just found a copy of Adventure comics 40 in a giant pile of over 100 coverless GA comics I bought.

The bad news,,,,, it's incomplete, and the pages begin AFTER the Sandman story. 

Still... it's got the CF (and it's in nice shape).  

It's got 13 middle wraps, 11 of which are pretty nice.  The outer 2 existing wraps are pretty bad.

What do you think?  I think it probably still hold quite a bit of value even though it's missing Sandman pages.  Slab it as is?  Slab the wraps separately?

Congrats on the nice find of coverless books! Personally, I would leave the Adv 40 raw and enjoy it that way.  If you really want to slab it, then I'd probably slab the book as is without separation.  I'm also not a fan of separating the wraps individually, but it's your book so do as you want with em

And a Silver Streak 1 (missing a few wraps)

Action Comics 15 (missing 3 outer wraps, but still has the CF)

Superman 2 (missing 4 outer wraps & 1 CF)

Action 21 (missing 1 OW & 1 CF)

Action 38 (missing 3 outer wraps)

Action 42 (missing 1OW & CF)

Action 63 (missing 2 outer wraps)

Batman 23 (missing 2 OWs)

Detective 50 (missing OW)

Boy comics 5 (3rd issue ..... this one has the cover)

Wow!  I have no problem buying coverless books, but the best I usually find are 1970s Archie's.  very cool haul!

why would anyone be interested in the non-sandman pages slabbed? 

doesn't it have more value to someone looking to buy replacement wraps in order to complete their copy?

Yes, that's the one.  I knew about the Action 15 & the Superman 2...... I just figured there had to be some more goodies in there.

The Adventure 40 goes a long way to paying for the auction.

Also..... I figured that all the solo covers would have matches

All I can say is.... Thank God for the GCD to help in identifying coverless.

I actually would have NEVER identified the Adventure 40 without it's help (there were no Sandman pages, and I didn't recognize anything else in there except Federal Men)

Over half of them are complete.

There's individual wraps in the pile too, so I need to keep my eye out.

Yeah... there's definitely risk involved, but knowing most of an Action 15 was in there and a Superman 2 helped.  

I was right at my price limit on this one, but examining some of the photos I really thought there might be something good mixed in.

Picking up auctions like this is how I found a Superman 1 page 1 origin page, a complete coverless Superman 2 (from a different auction), a Suspense 3, and an All Star 8.
