How often do you find a set of high-grade Detective Comics #1 through #10?

Any idea what the grades were on those?

How about I give you the entire Detective run along with the prices:

Detective #1 - CGC 6.0 - $40,000.00

Detective #2 - CGC 6.0 - $20,000.00

Detective #3 - CGC 5.5 - $11,000.00

Detective #4 - CGC 6.5 - $10,500.00

Detective #5 - CGC 6.5 - $ 7,600.00

Detective #6 - CGC 7.0 - $ 7,500.00

Detective #7 - CGC 6.5 - $ 7,500.00

Detective #8 - CGC 7.0 - $11,000.00

Detective #9 - CGC 8.5 - $11,000.00

Detective #10 - CGC 8.5 - $11,000.00

Detective #12 - CGC 7.0 - $ 6,800.00

Detective #14 - CGC 3.5 - $ 2,000.00

Detective #27 - SOLD

Detective #35 - CGC 4.5 - $ 3,900.00

As for myself, the book I phoned about was the CGC 9.0 copy of Wings Comics #90 priced at only $475. Not surprisingly, Al told me it was long gone by the time I had phoned, along with a ton of other people who had also phoned about the same book. Al certainly priced this one way too low considering the classic GGA cover.

All Star 3 CGC 6.5 $16,500 (sold on eBay for about $12K, if I remember correctly)

Classic Comics 1 CGC 7.0 $2,600

Comics Magazine 1 CGC 1.5 $4,500

Gene Autry 1 CGC 8.0 $6,000

jungle90.jpg $240

jungle85.jpg $120

Master Comics 23 CGC 8.5 $3,350

More Fun 9 CGC 3.5 $3,300

More Fun 12 CGC 7.0 $3,000

More Fun 14 CGC 5.5 $7,500

More Fun 71 CGC 7.5 $3,200

Planet 45 CGC 9.4 $3,000 cloud9.gif it is sooooo beautiful

Wow, What a Magazine 1-3 (set only) 1 FN-, 2 VFN-, 3 FN+ $18,000 (and sold VERY quickly)

Books that Al and Jeff still have (and they have a lot) are still priced at the 2003 price - which was aggressive then, is now at market.

I remember the "unveiling" of this collection at SDCC. I bought a number of the more "off the radar" books including some FH which wasn't all the popular either.

Was you fast enough to be the lucky one to picke up that Wings 90 that 's on the copy of the Lost Valley Catalouge?  :wishluck:

I remember calling him once I received a copy of the catalogue and all I remember was his comment that the book was long gone by then.  :frustrated:  :censored:

The 27 is beautiful but has a coupon cut out of the back cover. When I get home tonight I'll look for the catalog that has all of the grades. Al graded conservatively, if I remember correctly.

BTW, there's an interesting story about that 27 that I will regale people at a forum dinner.

Let me guess...the coupon was still there until 2002, and one of the original owner's grandkids cut it out because he thought he could still send away for something. Am I close?

Nope, it was gone by the time I got to them. I did pick up several other FH books including a Wings or two I think.

I remember being down at one of the SD Con's back in the day and saw a really nice looking CGC 9.0 graded Lost Valley copy of Master Comics 26.  :luhv:

Just as I was about to plop down my money for the book, decided to take a walk over to Basement Comics and asked them to borrow a copy of their Lost Valley Catalogue.  Noticed that the book was listed in their catalogues as a CGC 8.0 graded copy, so that kind of "seal" the deal for the Lost Valley Master 26 for me.  :p

I still remember way back in the day when both this book here plus Bulletman 5 were seen as 2 of the classic Raboy must have books at the time back then.  :luhv:

Sad to say, but they seen to have lost a lot of collector interest over the decades along with pretty much most of the other Fawcett related titles.  :(
