Here's my personal challenge-- perhaps never attempted before-- but my goal is to post meaningful art pieces in order from A to Z across a variety of titles and artists with no duplication, that I currently own or will acquire throughout the year.  Will give it my best but may stumble into roadblocks (J,O,Q,V,Y?) or run out of money.  26 postings over 52 weeks but to make it interactive, when a piece hits either 220 views or 20 comments it triggers the next letter posting the following week-- thanks in advance for your support and encouragement. For me, it will be a year-long journey and expression of great art and personal passion.  To date, I've posted:

  • A for Amazing Spider-man (Larsen)
  • B for Batman (Capullo)
  • C for Cloak & Dagger (Bagley)
  • D for Doomsday (Jurgens)
  • E for Elektra Assassin (Sienkiewicz)

Today, I'd like to share the inside cover to Famous First Edition #C-61 Superman #1 (Garcia-Lopez), a majestic portrait of the Man of Steel flying over the Twin Towers.

As a kid, I collected and read those incredible treasury-sized Famous First Edition reprints of key issues Action 1, Detective 27, Batman 1, Superman 1, Flash 1 and Wonder Woman 1. They reproduced the originals exactly— only bigger— and, without the outer cardboard cover, they looked like the real thing.  Overstreet Price Guides even had warnings about them being sold as originals!  even  The outside cover was all stats but this inside cover was original art by Jose Luis Lopez-Garcia and Giordano, two powerhouse DC artists who were flag bearers of DC's house style. A super-nostalgic cover for me with The Man of Steel in iconic form.

Enjoy!

Congrats on this one! I thought it was brilliant.

I just got all 5 of Scott Hepburn's covers for Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider in the mail today! With these, I now own 12 of 16 published CGR covers including 11 sequential covers and all 3 #1 issues.
