Can't remember the last time I saw a full color Pete Docter piece. He's my kids generation's Walt Disney....

Created for a charity fundraiser for Team Cul De Sac benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Pete knew and respected Richard Thompson's work and donated this piece to help out.

That is a nice win! Chris and Team Cul de Sac often have gems like this at the Drink and Draw. I got my Mutts piece there a couple of years ago.

Congratulations Chris on the new addition. Pete Docter is a hugely talented filmmaker. Besides his Pixar films, he's a student of the animation and cartoon fields, too. He helped in the publication of the  recent Disney flip books on the Nine Old Men. Another flip book collection is upcoming.  I saw him interview Ed Catmull at the Pacific Film Archive. Pete Docter and animation writer Don Peri spoke on the Disney short cartoon directors of the 1930's at the Walt Disney Family Museum. Animation historian Michael Barrier reports Docter and Peri  are doing more research on the latter subject for a book. Docter created a painting for the Art 2 Heart Philippines Typhoon Relief auctions. His Calarts student films are available on DVD from the animationshowofshows.com

Thanks. I have a feeling Pete's influence on the next generation of animated film makers will be prodigious.

That's a great Mutts piece. Chris Sparks usually pulls one or two truly jaw dropping pieces for the Drink and Draw.

My latest haul, from the Artist Choice end of year sale.

A FF page by Mark Bagley. IMHO it shows the sense of wonder, the science-fiction and family spirit of the series.

QzUTvQri_2306171724361gpadd.jpg#.WU5zFl0

A Green Lantern Corps page by Pasarin. Not the most exciting, but a clear view of the diversity of Corps members with the Martian Manhunter

Todd Nauck on American Dream. Nauck is a favorite of mine since Wildguard ... I like the way he draws team books. While it wasn't one here, this page feature the A-Next team form the MC2 universe.

Four page from the underrated Bloodhound  by Leonard Kirk. My only regret : not buying more, as they were cheap.

Picked up this great commission from Jason Johnson today at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con. This is not Jason's normal style, but I asked for this style based on some other pieces he had done about 10 years ago for a t-shirt company. The image is defined by just the stark shadows and light.

Here are the other pieces he did that got me to request the drawing in this style.
