Jeff Dee of TSR Dungeons and Dragons fame just completed two D&D Themed pieces that are very nostalgic (intentionally) towards his work on the original Deities & Demigods.

I mocked them up as how they would have looked as those old school 1980 D&D 1st edition modules.

I posted one of these in the "Artists of TSR" thread but as new pieces of artwork they really belong here.

The characters and their overall style taken from those TSR source book sections. Each original piece is 14"x18" in size (one landscape, one portrait) in pencil, ink and gray tones.

The first one was Loki from the Norse mythology section of Deities and Demigods.

The second one, which I just scanned and mocked up into module for, was Set from the Egyptian Mythos.

Way larger scans and write-ups available on my CAF.

Needless to say, even 37 years later, Jeff Dee has still got it.
He's also very reasonably priced for what you get, and he's on time, and communicates clearly and continuously and really works with the commissioner to get the piece just right.

Love this page. Even through a bid on it. Congrats!

Thanks! I actually wasn't even the winner of that auction. I missed it but it popped up for sale last week again and I was able to make a deal. Timing was on my side for once

I’m a Mike Kunkel fan and he recently ran a Kickstarter for a new art project. He wanted to try his hand a making an old fashioned block print. I liked the idea and signed up.

I’m very pleased with the results - the block print and two sketch cards plus a few other items. Check them out by clicking on the image below.

Keeping on the subject of X-O Manowar, this is an interior page from issue 1 (2017 series) I bought a while back. Page is in pencil by the incredibly talented Tomas Giorello. It reminds me of scenes from Heavy Metal's Conquering Army (1978)

Picked up a nice Kirby Twice up Thor Fight page. Good images of Thor in every panel, and of course great hammer action (hey now!). Double Bonus, signed by Kirby and its a 1/2 splash (and that panel is the definition of splash art to me). Getting another kirby wasnt high on my list, but it came around and im a fan of striking when the irons hot.

You can count me as one of those folks that hates when artists sign INSIDE the artwork... but in this case I love it. THe sig totally blends in with the action going on around it. So artists, if you HAVE to sign a page within the panels, do it like Kirby did here!

And that's an action packed piece... so VERY cool.
