I did some more digging and it looks like I was correct, at least with Tekno Comix. With the characters on these 2 covers, and on these 2 pages, it's clear the characters were from Nimoy's Primortals Roddenberry's Lost Universe.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they're the back up stories in the Tekno titles- of the mid 90s, i.e. Neil Gaiman's Mr. Hero- The Newmatic Man, Wheel of Worlds, & Lady Justice, Gene Roddenberry's Lost Universe, Leonard Nimoy's Primortals, Isaac Asimov's I-Bots, & Mickey Spillane's Mike Danger.

New addition to my collection is a cover recreation done by Herb Trimpe. He did most recreations on small paper but this was done on a full size 11 x 17 board. The logos and lettering are also all hand drawn.
