I have one for sale. It is the extremely rare "Whiteout" version. You can't see much but the scan is below. insane.gifinsane.gif

takeit.gif Oh, man...I gotta have it! I'll give you all the money in the photo below for that comic. It was all I could come up with on short notice.

As for your request, am I correct in assuming the comic you're speaking of is the White cover variant of Venom #1, which are actually black cover editions with a printing error causing the white cover? Just trying to clear things up.

???

No white cover version that I am aware of. The actual cover is RED foil, and my understanding is that the error cover was black as a result of NOT having the foil. It would be nice if the original poster could confirm this though. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

White versions (extremely rare)

Wow. According to the CGC census, that's the ONLY CGC certified copy of the White cover book. Which I suppose makes sense because it's actually the result of two printing errors. One that failed to apply the black color to the cover and the other that failed to make the holo-grafix foil adhere to the cover.

My local comic shop had one for sale a year back or so. You have to be very careful with them as there are serveral counterfeit versions out there. Make sure you know how to identify a real version. Beleieve it or not my local shop owner found one by sheer accident when working at another store years ago. He just happened to be the person who opened up the order and they didnt know at the time what the hell it was.

There is a white version, CGC first made everyone aware of it.

CGC Discovers Venom: Lethal Protector #1 White Cover!

Industry News, Scoop, Friday, March 05, 2004

Comics Guaranty, LLC recently discovered a copy of Venom: Lethal Protector #1 with a white cover. While many collectors know of the famed black cover version this is the first copy of the comic to be found with a white cover.

"This book was submitted to CGC at the January Big Apple Con. The submitter brought it to us because he had never seen another copy, did not know what it was, and knew we could help determine what it was," explained CGC Modern Age specialist Paul Litch.

The book is a Gold variant edition that was the retailer edition, but the gold foil did not properly adhere to the cover. When viewing the comic one can see the gold foil near the logo.

According to Litch, the process of verification wasn't a difficult one. "We were able to compare [the book] to our database concerning the Venom Blacks and realized that it had a lot of similarities. CGC has certified it as a White Cover/Printing Error based on those similarities. Based on all the information we have, it seems that the hot stamp that adheres the holo-grafix foil to the cover was not fully heated, so the foil only partially adhered to the cover."

New, rare and unseen acquisitions continue to provide excitement for CGC, even after a quite a few years and pleasant comics surprises in the grading business.

"After being open for over four years, it is still cool to see books come in that we haven't seen before," Litch enthused.

Are you talking about Lethal Protector #1?

Regular was Red Foil

Never heard of an error edition

I do have a silver Foil one. What was this?

I haven't heard of a silver version. I know there was a red and gold version.

The black 'variant' was caused by a printing error that either failed to apply the foil or the adhesive that kept the foil on the cover. Either way, the foil came off and left the black underneath.

The white 'variant' is basically a black variant without the black pigment on the cover. It's an accumulation of two printing errors.

I had never seen silver either. It was in collection I picked up a few years back. I'll try to scan it later.

Yeah, if you could scan it and post it, I'd love to see it.

Guess its gold not silver. And when you open it, there's a letter on the inside cover that explains it is just a limited version of regular edition w/ pin ups, etc. Never opened it before foreheadslap.gif
