FANTASTIC FOUR 25 VF "GREEN RIVER"

Funny, I was just thinking yesterday, that if we had a dedicated forum for pedigrees, I'd post a list entitled....Ten Things You Should Know About the Green River Pedigree.

First on the list would be....

#1: The owner of the books was not a serial killer.

This must be a rumor I never heard of. What's the story on it?

Well, the OO was indeed a pretty smarmy character. He was no angel. confused-smiley-013.gif

The similarity's between the Green River Killer & the comic collector are very similar though. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

They both had habits that most would have to pay for. (Comics/Street Girls)

They both went out of their way to collect large groups of items from the same places.

They also had similar storage techniques. Both would store their items in groups.( Comics / Bodies)

Makes you wonder doesn't it... popcorn.gif

Well, the collector didn't have to go out of his way.....he was ripping off his dad's store.

But he did have a huge collection of pornography and police and law enforcement material. Creepy. I wonder how he used the cop stuff.

Was he innocent like OJ or did they ever catch the guy that really did it?

They caught the guy, another guy, and he confessed to a gajillion murders.

Interesting. How long ago did this all happen?

Maybe if they ever make it into a movie they could pay Red Hook to use a few of his authentic Green Rivers for some props in the scenes where they nab the wrong dude.

gossip.gif Of coarse, only if they add the disclaimer at the end of the movie that no Green River Pedigrees were actually harmed during the making of this film. 27_laughing.gif

Are we sure that he was ripping his dad off? It seems that it would be hard for him and his brother to be consistently ripping his dad off every month. Rather, it seems like more of a "working in your dad's store / getting an allowance / kids will be kids" type deal. They also took home toys and cards.

From Hauser's email:

The history of the collection was that two brothers father had a large drug store in spokane. they took home many comics and toys and cards. One brother was accused of being the green river killer. I got the books from the lawyer that defended him. I guess he owed him some money. The other brother sold many books to a store owner in spokane. So there are many more comics from the pedigree. the store owner whose name i can't remember did not sell them as pedigree copies.

He had written a market report for overstreet one month saying he had sold multiple copies of AS ann #1 and I did call and found out they came from the same collection. As i never met the original owner I do not remember his name. I'll let you know if I remember anything else.

The strange tales #110 was really nice and sold to someone in england.

I ended up with two copies of ASM Annual #1, so with Hauser's comment, there must be at least 4 Green River copies out there.

Hmmm....question must remain unanswered at this point, but yeah, quite possibly they were legitimately removing the books from the store. I tried to contact his brother but he didn't want to converse. Strange fella.

Where have you guys been? Well I guess BGK took center stage after the GR affair. Hard to keep your serial killers straight, eh?
