"Restorations Includes"

3 posts in this topic

When I see CGC books that have restoration, the disclosure is worded "Restoration includes" followed by one or more processes: "Restoration includes minor color touch", etc.

Is there a reason for use of the word "includes" instead of something more definitive like "consists of".

"includes" sounds like there may be more than what is being reveled in the text on the holder.

Thanks!

CGC uses the term "Restoration includes" because, on rare occasions, we cannot fit everything that was done to the book on our label. When we do run out of room, we put the more important things on the label first, like, pieces replaced, reinforcements, reglossing, etc. before we put something like a very small tear seal on the label.

Also, we have Slight, Moderate and Extensive designations for restored books. Usually it is only Extensive that we cannot fit everything onto the label. That being the case, submitters can ALWAYS call up and get the notes for ANY restored book because we do take notes on restoration.
