I tend to think that "staple crimps" = stress around staples > normal spine stress 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

 

For the sake of argument, you're missing my point. I'm talking about this book only. Look closely again . . . grin.gif Note the two distinct dark marks on the spine: 1) at the base of The Thing's hand, and 2) at the alien's head. These are production defects, not spine stress. The only real stress (and it's freakin' tiny) is at the middle of the Thing's hand. The other two nanometer lines you see are color breaks in the art. grin.gif
