Today I received this message:

 

"Why did you contact the biders (sic) of my listing and told them that you are the real seIIer? I will report you to ebay."

 

It's from a seller I've never heard of, let alone dealt with. I received it via ebay, although it hasn't shown up in My Messages in My Ebay. The usual links to the auction, as well as the respond link, are there as per usual. It does look legit.

 

Either the seller is a paranoid insufficiently_thoughtful_person, or it's one of two scams, the most likely being a "fishing" email. Thoughts?

PHISHING!

 

Forward it over to spoof@ebay.com and hopefully if everyone does that, it will reduce the amounts we all get!

Anyway, the seller whose identity was used by the scammer wasn't a comic guy.

It seems to "Phishing" E-mails are arriving at an accelerated rate. I've been receiving 2/4 per week now. Some come through an E-Bay look-a-like. Many come through a Paypal look-a-like. If you have any doubts first check to see if your E-Bay name is on the E-mail. Ebay always addresses you by your membership name. Most Scam E-mails are addressed to E-Bay member.

 

Paypal scams will usually be addressed to dear paypal member. Often the message will be something to the effect that Paypal has reason to believe your account is being suspended.

 

In any case do not use the links you are provided an any E-mail that requests personal info. Go to the vendors main address yourself and log in from there.
