Thanks! I saw this from a con from a vendor called Retro Recollectibles. Had a lot of the very early Spider-Man issues but this one was the one I've been going for a while.

I bought this Spidey back in the 90’s and filed him away. Decided it’s time to give him a short vacation in Sarasota FL for a few weeks. Hoping he comes back refreshed and looking like new lol!

that is a good candidate to throw up in the Spare a grade forum to let people guess what the CGC grade will turn out.

a proper listing of front and back on Spare a Grade was what I was thinking for the 51

No I was referring to the 51. My bad I assumed you were referring to it as well. I was just throwing up a guesstimate for the 51. You're right It is an excellent candidate for the Spare a grade thread. The 31 is in a bag so it's a little tougher to peg from here but lovely anyway . I wouldn't take it out of the bag either

That I'm getting graded by CGC, I am curious to see what it will come back as. I also made a subject for it in the Spare a Grade section too if you want to comment on it! Also, I placed it on top of the bag when taking the pic, I should've just placed the bag out of the picture haha!

I was referring to the 51 - they need to scan front and back and let others give them a good estimate. I was pointing that out because they sound new to the grading game (only 10 posts so far). Also-- to @Dave Henson - I would not send this in unless you are planning to sell it and even then, provide good front and back scans for people to properly evaluate.

While I can see your book also worthy of grading- I would ONLY do this if I were selling it. Also-- that picture is not sufficient. The bag has nothing to do with it- provide good front and back scans (no bag) for people to properly evaluate. Some folks also take a picture of an interior as well.

BigDaddy did all the above there with close ups in the grading forum with the 31...it looks to be a solid high mid grade

Another "upgrade"

I bought a Marvel Silver Age collection in the mid 90s from a woman who bought them off the stands. She kept them stacked in a old style cardboard Shasta soda case where you could mix-n-match different flavors and fill this 24 count half box thing, about 4 inches in height. In all, as I recall, there were 110 comics. They varied in grade and as I got into Golden Age, I sold off most of the other titles, keeping only the Spider-Man run, with a few others that didn't sell. One year in the very early 2000s, I went through them and brought the best one (by my eye) to Chicago to have it CGC graded. I DID have Matt press it first and this is what it came back as:

I repeated the same process the next year, picking the best Spidey from that collection, having Matt press it and having CGC grade it. This is the result. Not bad for 2 books that sat in a cardboard pop case without bags for about 3 decades!

I never really set out to collect Spidey in "high grade" but I AM acquiring some.
