The times were so different back then. There were printing limitations that would seem prehistoric today. What was marvel working with back then a shoe string budget?

Ditko went all those years with the satisfaction of knowing he was the first to put pencil to paper on the greatest comic character ever. He threw Kirby's Silver Spider sketches with the silver ring and those clumsy goggles to the curb then masterfully perfected the character. I don't know but I'd think that's more satisfying than anything.

Possibly the nicest 5.0s you'll ever see.  I was a little disappointed with the grades on these two.

What do the grader notes say?

Light creasing to cover

Light spine stress lines to cover

Very light tears to cover

Moderate staining to cover

I did see some staining to the inside covers when i looked at them raw (from the inside cover you could see a hint of staining), I just didn't think it would be hammered so hard, because as you can see it presents like a 6.5-7.0 IMO.  You really can't see any staining from the outside cover.

These are both good looking comics.

They clobber stains.  They’ve always hit them really hard compared to other defects.

Yeah had to be the staining, which I know they kill on. To bad, because they do present super nice! Definitely nicer than grade.

In hindsight, that panel would have worked so much better with Peter saying nothing.

Oh, and by the way, nice book!  :)
