I have been searching for a nice looking CGC 4.5 White copy of  FF 14 or 16 to go with my FF 15 copy in the exact same grade (see page 360), and just ended getting one from a local collector!

This issue has Dragon Man, Diablo, Professor X, Cyclops, and Peter Parker. Also, Reed proposes to Sue.

I think continuing stories begin in this one, as well. People often select FF44 as the start of the “great issues”, but in many ways the Greatness starts right here.

They did begin getting a bit more sophisticated around this time. My first issue of the FF off the rack was #75, but this issue was the first "old" FF I ever had... my Mom brought it home from a Church Bazaar in a stack of 20 for a dollar comics... so I'm a little biased. It really ignited the collector in me. I had read the story before, but this one had a different cover than  the Marvel's Greatest Comics version. GOD BLESS....

Here's something that came out a couple years before FF 1 when Kirby was working at D.C. …. It has a lot of ideas that would eventually see light at Marvel. It's a pretty cool read. Kirby also did a Thor prototype in Tales of the Unexpected 16. GOD BLESS....

What a bunch of amazing books the past few pages! I'm working on a mid to high grade run from about 40 -200. Most of 145 or so onward were OO that I bought off the rack. I scored a nice 52 about 8 years ago for $90 that recently came back as 8.0. Can't post a pic because it's not a CGC label.:sorry:

Great seeing all these actual comics at both ends of the grading spectrum; the well loved ones (which most of mine are) which were once some ones prized possession and the high grades, its jaw dropping to think comics 40 - 50 - 60 years old even exist in these grades. Anyway to lower the tone a little I'll post some UK reprints some people might not have seen.

To kick-off, FF Full Colour Comic Album from 1969; Reprints FF 51, 53 and 60

UK comics were generally in B&W so given this chance the colourist seems to have gone overboard;

FF Comic Annual from 1969; Reprints FF 23, 22, 81, 24 (who cares what order they're in, at least the colours were correct)

Next up FF Television Annual also 1969: reprints FF 54, 56 and 59

and our friend the mad colourist makes a return with FF in pink pants (apart from Ben's which are green) ,a blond Reed Richards and first appearance of the Blue Surfer;

I think Jack Kirby could have sneezed a better cover than that but at least the colourist gave us a nice understated Doc Doom;

and finally from 1975 (My comic shop states this as 1969 but its decimal 15p which clearly puts it post Feb 1971 and copyright shows 1975). Quite sensibly we'd given up on colour by then and left it to the reader to colour: reprints FF 91 and 94;

It’s amazing how often it’s decided to go with a non-Kirby cover on a Kirby publication. Who on earth would think the bottom two examples given were improvements?

 The comic and television annuals from 1969 at least have some redone Kirby images.

Neat to see these, tho!

Based on what I can see, either the colorist had never looked at a Fantastic Four comic, or s/he was color blind. The 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 8th are especially egregious. For the love of criminy, he's the SILVER Surfer; it even says his name in the text on that page.
