Congratulations, Louie!
Completing Fantastic Four in 1991 was, and still is, the biggest thrill I’ve experienced in the hobby.

Official FF Collecting Rules clearly state that you are entitled to cake today. 🎂

I just watched these two books go on the last clink sale and left my head scratching... which would you choose..

9.8  $3,200

9.6  $2,176

The 9.6 has better eye appeal without the distributer overspray. GOD BLESS...

... I still have trouble even considering spending big money on a book I bought off the rack for 12 cents.

Not surprising.  There are 25 of 9.6 vs only 10 of 9.8 on CGC census.  That explains it?  Especially since they are both nice enough such that their relative scarcity should, or at least could, be dispositive.  This is a 1968 book!  It's always a treat to find SA books in 9.8.

I broke down and bought this 9.0 copy of FF #32 so that I can finally say the run is 100% complete.

Now I just need to upgrade #11, 18, and 32 from 9.0 to 9.4 in order to complete #11-115 (last 15-cent issue) in 9.4.

(Also working on upgrading #116-#154 to 9.6, and have only 15 to go in that little quest.)

i like your strategy!   and i'll stay on the lookout...

I was shooting for comedy.  I would take the 9.6 also.

It's a strange hobby we are in, when the numbers on a case dictate price over the physical comic book.

My bad, but sadly I think your comedic point fell deafly on the bidders.   For $3k+ you'd want to be able to look at your book and not wince :shy:

Cool labels I think I’m going to pay the extra to get the fantastic four 72 one on my 49 even so the other label is better suited for it considering it is the cover

you made me think, what's the cut-off number now for perceivably 'scarce' book on the census for a SA book.   10 or less does seem to fit the bill, whether that's in the 9.6 or 9.8 category.

If you are asking about scarcity among SA books enough to make someone feel all warm and fuzzy inside about owning something that only X others do, is X really as low as 10?   And should that be limited to 9.8s and 9.6s?   Take The Spectre #1 (DC, 1967).  That issue has no 9.8s and only one 9.6 on the census, but fourteen 9.4s.   With only one 9.6, realistically one can only pursue one of the fourteen 9.4s.  X = 14 as "scarce" for that SA book, even though it's in the 9.4 grade.  I expect other examples.
