My x girlfriend past away last year at 52. I say she went to all my comic shows and trips when we where 16 for 5 years till we broke up. I gave her all the Ducks she loved them. I got the call from here husband that she past and he said she would want you to have her books. WOW i got an old box and i remember i bought this as pristine mint and gave it to her and its every bit 9.8 white pages. just took a fast picture.

I am officially down to under 100 books needed to complete  Both Series 2  and 1

 

A couple of years ago I decided to add in to the wants  were about 250 books that I felt needed to be upgraded .  of course those were secondary to filling in holes.

 

Here are some of the graded books  that were added to my collection as well as the registry

My longest unbroken streak is between 598-672  for 75 consecutive issues.  the next best ones are only 45 and 43 issues

 

the average grade of my books is only 4.63 with the lowest grades in the below 100 section as we would expect, in the low 3's but the highest grades are in the 6,7, 8  and 1100s  all of which are just over 5.

My goal for 2020  is add at least 25 missing books  and upgrade at least 50.  Would love to bring the average grade up to at least 5.0 as well 

 

 

 

With the pandemic  and way extra stress at the office as well as at home  I have not touched my tracking spreadsheets  since this post.

 

I have added quite a few books so I am sure it will take me a while to bring everything back in line.

I'm sorry for your loss. That the books came back to you seems quite fitting, as I'm sure you will cherish their legacy.

What a nice way to remember an EX  from many years ago

I did pretty well  for 2020  especially  I did absolutely no in person transactions.  I now have 1257  issues

 

I am now down to 8 first series  needed  and only 82  second series  for a total of 90 give or take an issue.

 

I did  not do as well on my upgrades  as i still need 217 of those.

 

As soon as I typed I knew that there was no way I was going to improve the average grade anywhere near what  the .37  I threw out.  i quickly determoned I would have to pick up over 450 grade points  to accomplish that.  I would have had to upgrade 90 books by an average grade of 5 points  while keeping all new books at or above 5.

 

I was able to raise the average grade to 4.71  so there is hope that I could eventually get to 5.

 

by longest unbroken streak is now 93  from 111-203.

I still have not completed a single hundred series  as i need 1 book for the 100's  and 600's  and only 2  for the 1000's

That's going to be a wonderful set of comics to own. A decade ago I contemplated that run but I ended up deciding that postage to Australia for 1,400 ish comics was going to make it a non-starter. but I have sure enjoyed watching your progress!

I picked up 40 issues from Series II and 6 issues from Series I in 2020.  I think that a couple of those were in person transactions back in February before the pandemic hit here.  I have already picked up 6 issues from Series II in 2021 to bring the total that I need down to 99 Series II issues and 19 Series I issues.  I'm not looking to upgrade any issues so thankfully don't have to worry about that.

I haven't completed any hundred series either, though #694, 1016, and 1164 are the only issues I need in those particular hundred series.  My longest unbroken run then is from 1017-1163, a run of 147 issues.  If I can get a copy of 1164, the unbroken run will extend from 1017-1252 or 236 issues.

I need 2 in the 300s, 3 in the 400s, 2 in the 700s, 3 in the 800s, 2 in the 900s, and 2 in the 1200s.  One of the issues that I need in the 900s is the Smokey the Bear that you got from Harley.  The other is a Leave it to Beaver issue (999).

My goal for 2021 is to get down to needing 50 issues for Series II and 15 issues for Series I.  That's a bit ambitious for Series II, but we'll see what happens.

Thanks guys. I live for that stuff and have a running tally of these stats:

I have closed 2 hundred series. I have the complete 400's and 600's.

My longest unbroken is 193 long from 378 to 570.

I am down to needing only 1 for the 300's, 500's, 700's, 900's and 1000's. Once those are done, it's working on the start and the end

I am not collecting the first series btw. Kudos to both of you for adding this to your chase!

well  prior to adding  upgrades  to my wants  I added the missing  four colors.

 

Since my spreadsheet  is numerically based i would only have to reslot in the missing books so I could have those on the same spreadsheet.

This is my current  Four color WANT LIST

 

The first Column and a half are missing books

the next four columns are of upgrades desired with current condition place holders shown.  For filling out the last column I have it set to Fill in with  whatever of the first hundred  will fit.

 

I have currently set my upgrade target at books in 2.5  or below,  but can easily change that to make it higher or lower.

 

I after entering  the info for new additions  I can  update everything  with the swapping and sorting of 2 columns.

It is so helpful to have the name  of  the book  along with the number  to really know what you are looking for

The movie adaptations from Dell and Gold Key in the early sixties are some great books! Here's a Gold Key that had supposedly fell behind a news rack and was found when they remodeled the store a few years back.
