2007 Windy City Pulp & Paper Con - original art

3 posts in this topic

The 2007 Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention is rapidly approaching. This year's theme is Weird Tales and the 75th anniversary of Conan and our GoHs have both done quite a bit of Conan and REH related work -- Ken Kelly and Gary Gianni. Art from both will be on display at the con. This year's con will be held Friday-Sunday, May 4-May 6, at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest in Arlington Heights (a NW suburb of Chicago). More info, including the registration form, can be found at the website, www.windycitypulpandpaper.com. We've just sold the last of our 111 tables, with the last one going to Lynn Maguire, daughter of paperback artist Robert Maguire, who will be bringing some of his originals for sale. While there are better venues for contemporary or gaming art or comic art, if your focus is vintage pulp and paperback art, I don't think you'll find a better convention. Previous cons have always had a bunch of that sort o' art for sale – including by such folks as Kaluta, Jones, Krenkel, Schomburg, Finlay, Freas, Emsh and Valigursky (if you go to the gallery of Doug Ellis on the Comic Art Fans site, you’ll find some pics of art that was for sale at last year’s con) – and this year's con should have more of the same.

If you haven't done so already, you should post this in the "Events" forum -- it'll give a heads up to more people.
