Heidi on the 'Bay

171 posts in this topic

Just to add a little boots-on-the-ground perspective on Heidi, when she was prancing around comic conventions, a lot of the guys gawking at her were younger than her or just about the same age. She was like the hot girl that thought it was cool to wear scanty costumes around nerdy guys (like m'wah) which was way cool! Looking at it all through the filter of the ridiculous pc' ness of today, it seems a lot more salacious then I think it really was at the time. I mean the comic con universe was a LOT smaller then it is today and Heidi was really only kind of like a local phenomenon at the NY Comic Con scene. Sure looking at the Warren mag today it looks creepy, but I think for the most part the target aufience was young pimply lads, too young to buy playboy and still spending their money on comics. I don't think there was a diabolical kiddy porn agenda.

I didn't know that Heidi sold her Vampi costume in an auction. I wonder what she got for it?

You go girl, wherever you are :headbang:

I didn't find it difficult to buy Playboy ( or Penthouse and Hustler) when I was 13 back in the early 70s, even easier when buying 2nd hand at used magazine shops ( 3 for $1). Had a stack of about 30 when I was still in middle school. Playboy was my preference, as there actually was plenty of good reading and of course lots of cartoons to read once you were done looking a pictures of the nekkid ladies.

I had a friend who was too embarrassed to buy them himself, and would give me the money to do so. The funniest part was the local drugstore I used to buy them at kept them behind the counter in those racks with the plastic frontpiece to hide the cover, but they would still sell it to anybody who asked. And trust me, I looked 13.

Of course it was the 1970s, and we also had no problem buying cigarettes, dope smoking paraphernalia and underground comics when underaged as well.

I was one of those that lusted after Heidi when I first saw her. Then again, I was 11 or 12 at the time so Heidi was the older woman to me :) . Always wondered who she really was and what happened to her.

Yeah, looking at those old pics now as an adult, it's a little creepy. Although I wouldn't seeing how she looks now.
