Ever wonder why those Archie collectors love Harry Lucey?

I think that's a Dan Decarlo cover. Lucey, however, is my favorite Archie artist by far! Lots of amazng work from about 1957-1965, which is my favorite era of Archie comics.

You really think it's DeCarlo? I would have guessed Stan G. as well...

 

No, you guys are right, it's Stan G. For some reason I got them confused briefly.

 

Anyway, Bob Montana was one of my favorite early Archie artists too! cool.gif

I think Lucey is my favorite as well. I also liked George Frese who did the early B&V and Jughead issues but I think he died at a pretty young age and did not have a large body of work.

 

Like Shield, I really like the mid 50's to mid 60's time period and Lucey seemed to produce a lot of classic stories and covers then.
