From NARU to Powerseller in 16 days... is that a record???

24 posts in this topic

My 3-years NARU'd eBay id of tpbking was finally reinstated on April 25th and I launched my first new auctions two days later...

Today I get the Powerseller welcome email from eBay. foreheadslap.gif

16 days from dead account to Powerseller, and just 14 days from the start of my first auction back.

I look over the qualifications, and it's all talking about 3 consecutive months of this, and monthly averages of that... Uh huh... sure......... foreheadslap.gif

And yes, I know... I shouldn't be wasting time posting tripe like this when there are con reports to be done... foreheadslap.gif

But in the mean time...

Here is a picture of the Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma...

Now, if you can figure out why it's in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, I will give you a cookie. And if you can figure out why they were closed at 1:30pm on a Monday, make it two cookies... thumbsup2.gif

makes you wonder, there was a time when I was doing big money on beanie babies, cards and comics and never got the invite. Now I barely list anything with these boards available.

Careful I got a phishing email asking me to be a powerseller. It looked legit but I didn't click on it since it never showed up on My Ebay messages. Almost got me since I made over $2500 in sales this past month.

"Why build a museum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma? Well, that's easy to answer ... Pauls Valley is located just one hour south of Oklahoma City on Interstate 35 and is only two hours from Tulsa or Dallas. In fact, the town is right in the middle of the country. It's as easy to fly here from New York as it is from California!

Also, with Pauls Valley's brick streets and historic, small-town charm, it is one of the best places in the world to "get away from it all." Adults can bring their children and not only enjoy the toys of their youth, but also recapture the atmosphere of a bygone era."

also toy designer Kevin Stark had a big hand in getting it set up there. As for why it's closed on a Monday at 1:30 PM, it's obviously town-wide circle jerk time, in which you couldn't help yourself and had to participate in, so no thanks, I'll pass on your "ookie cookie" prizes. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I got an offer to "upgrade " to Silver status as a seller and can positively confirm it was a phishing trip.

Due to Sales(?) I was offered this? I only buy (so far). Anyway, the alarms went off in my browser when I carefully opened the link in another Window (I use Firefox).

No problems once I'd complied with the browser's suggestion I kill the engagement.

Well if you look at this link:

TPBKING feedback

You'll see that it was no phishing trip... That was my first thought too... confused-smiley-013.gif But it was in my eBay messages... confused-smiley-013.gif

Selling $50 worth of kids Pokemon cards doesn't qualify you for powerseller status - so I would have doubly been more suspicious of any invite poke2.gif

Ah Pokemon... for 10 months in 1999-2000 it was like printing money... cloud9.gif

One of the local shops has tracked his sales records for the last 12 years on a monthly basis. His top 10 months in that 12-year period were all from Pokemon. Average sales of around $18K-20K a month before Pokemon. Average sales of $18K-22K a month currently...

During Pokemon???

Three straight months over $65K... tonofbricks.gif

The smart shops (ie almost none of them) took the windfall and filled a warchest for bad times. I blew mine on lapdances, Viagra, and Wienerschnitzel... Love those chili cheese fries... cloud9.gif

it's kindah automatic if you make the requisite sales and don't have bad feedback, no?

It certainly is automatic... I just found it odd that according to eBay, my 14 days of sales qualified for all my "three month" criteria for Powerseller status... confused-smiley-013.gif

Maybe they only averaged your sales from the time you were still registered and not the time of your inactivity. So, if you were averaging enough to be a Power Seller in the months just prior to being NARU'd, you'd probably pick right back up on that average being reinstated. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif
