CGC-certified Incredible Hulk #1 Included in Upcoming ComicLink Sale
Posted on 10/17/2023
The first appearance of the Incredible Hulk is smashing its way to the top of a group of comic rarities certified by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) in a ComicLink auction on October 24, 2023.
The standout comic is an Incredible Hulk #1 graded CGC 8.0. Published in 1962 by Marvel Comics, this comic introduced readers to the iconic character of the Hulk and marked the birth of a legendary superhero franchise. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, this debut issue chronicled the origin of Dr. Bruce Banner, who, after a gamma radiation accident, transformed into the uncontrollable green behemoth whenever he experienced intense anger.

In his first appearance, the Hulk was depicted as gray. However, this color choice led to printing issues, as the gray coloring often resulted in inconsistent shades due to problems with the printing process of the time. Because it would be a challenge to maintain a uniform grey hue throughout the comic, the character was changed to green in the second issue of "The Incredible Hulk," which was published just a few months later.
A CGC 6.5 copy is also offered in this sale.
