ComicLink has sold Tales of Suspense #39 in the condition of CGC 9.6, for $375,000. This is the second highest publicly reported sale ever for a comic published during the period known as the “Silver Age” of comic books, which represents the time period between late 1956 through 1969. It is also the single highest Silver Age sale that is not Spider-Man related. The scan of the comic book as well as the description can be viewed on the Comic Book Exchange section of ComicLink.com.

“The importance of this issue has always been clear” says Nathanson. “Iron Man has been a major player in Marvel's stable of heroes since his 1963 introduction, and was a founding member of the Avengers super-team. He has been featured in countless comic book storylines from that time until the present day, and has always been a popular superhero. However, with the release of two well done Iron Man movies, with Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark to perfection in both, Iron Man has been solidified as an ‘A-list’ superhero with buzz comparable to that of Spider-Man’s.”

“This near pristine example of Tales of Suspense #39 was a special offering and a prime opportunity for our discerning buyer to obtain one of the very best examples that will ever come available for purchase,” commented ComicLink Consignment Director Douglas Gillock. “Our firm is utilized by the most advanced collectors in the world to obtain access to the most desirable books in the world.”

“We encourage collector-investors seeking material of the highest quality to contact us – we have longstanding relationships with the owners of some of the most valuable material in the hobby,” added Nathanson. “At the same time, we can be an enormous resource for those looking to add top investment quality comic books or comic art to an investment portfolio.”

“Parties interested in investing or consigning top notch material may contact Josh Nathanson at (617) 517-0062, extension 101, or Douglas Gillock 617) 517-0062, extension 102. Though ComicLink frequently offers impressive material on it’s web site, there are many items that we have access to that will never be sold in a public format. The most serious of investors should definitely give us a call.”

Speaking of impressive material on the web site – lots of it, including a CGC 9.4 example of Tales of Suspense #39, within ComicLink’s upcoming May Featured Auction Preview, which is easily accessible from the ComicLink.com web site.
